The Parallel Universe

In today's world, we have so many avenues through which we communicate, and it is amazing how instantaneous it can be. Although we may not really pay attention to it, information really travels fast when you think about it.

My prime example is Twitter. Lets talk about the "fight" that happened on the UWI Mona campus this past Thursday. I wasn't even at school, but hey, I'm always on twitter, and I was in the know of this fight within SECONDS of it happening. Better yet, I knew about the fight before it was finished!

Tweets upon tweets upon tweets about this "life changing" box filled my timeline, I mean seriously, I don't think I missed much by not being at school. I got full on multimedia coverage instantaneously. Thanks to my generation, we act very quickly I would say; because the full video was streaming as it happened, of good quality too, and where else to post this happening but Twitter.

I have friends of mine who are in Trinidad for carnival, now one would think these guys were on campus based on their tweets about this fight.

Oh! and how about the UPDATED information about rumors that the recipient of the "life changing box" was threatening to press charges, and people I'm talking about these tweets popping up at 8/9pm in the night... WAAAY after this fight was over.

Think about it, a fight happened at UWI on Thursday, in the evening like around 5pm or so; within seconds, the video, BBM display pics, broadcast messages, twitvids, YOUTUBE! everything had it. Even the following morning, FRONT PAGE OF THE STAR!

Now if this doesn't depict how we communicate at the speed of light in modern day, I have no idea what else will.....well I mean DUH there are others but you get my point right?
